MSG William Miranda

MSG Miranda was a Team Sergeant, S-3 Operations Sergeant, Intelligence Analyst, Master Parachutist, and held MOS's 18B and 18F.  He was a member of C/3/12 since 1967.

MSG Miranda was the first recipient of the T.E. Anderson soldier of the Year award in 1969.  He participated in the airborne operation for the dedication of T.E. Anderson Drop Zone, was an outstanding jumpmaster, and was chairman of C/3/12's Jumpmaster Committee.

MSG Miranda was severly injured in a UH-1H helicopter crash in August, 1984 while on a training mission in Bishop, California.  He died hours later at a local hospital.

In recognition of MSG Miranda's excellence, C/3/12 created the Jumpmaster of the Year award in his honor.  Eligibility for this award was limited to current jumpmasters for overall outstanding performance while serving as a jumpmaster.

Winner was determined by secret vote of all unit jumpmasters.
