MSG Thomas E. Anderson was an
Operations and Intelligence Sergeant, a Korean War Veteran, Silver Star recipient, Master
Parachutist, and C/3/12 unit member for over 10 years. He was instrumental in the design and manufacture of the PRC-74
Radio by Hugh's Aircraft Corporation, which became standard issue for Special Forces.
While attending U.S. Army Ranger School in
1969, he lapsed into a diabetic coma and subsequently died.
He was a professional reservist and dedicated
member of C/3/12. T.E. Anderson Drop Zone (DZ) at AFRC Los Alamitos was named and
dedicated in his honor for his outstanding contributions as a soldier.
Also in recogniton of MSG Anderson's
excellence, C/3/12 dedicated their annual Soldier of the Year award in his name as well.
The T.E. Anderson Soldier of the Year award
was limited to SF qualified personnel E-6 and below for outstanding performance of
military duties.
The recipient was determined by vote of all
the unit's Senior Operations Sergeants. In case of a tie, the unit SGM would cast a
deciding vote.
