NOTE:  The unit was not authorized a Sergeant Major position until 31 January, 1966 when 17th Group was deactivated and the unit was officially designated a company (Company A, 12th SFGA).   From 15 December 1956 to 31 January 1966, the unit was designated as a Special Forces detachment.
